On a fair June day in picturesque Oxfordshire countryside, Jeremy and Ellen asked me along to photograph their elegant Ardington House wedding. Nestled at the base of the North Wessex Downs, It made a beautiful venue and setting for an outdoor wedding ceremony.
I love the hustle and bustle of a wedding morning. No matter how many things are organised in the lead-up to a wedding there are always many last-minute touches that need to be sorted to make it perfect. This inevitably creates many great moments. Whether it is the girls getting ready in the rooms overlooking the grounds or Jeremy helping put the final touches to the outdoor ceremony area before dashing off to get ready himself. They had close and very talented friend Ilona practising her singing which created a beautiful ambiance.
The overall vibe was chilled and relaxed, with everyone being so welcoming. Ellen wore a Needle & Thread wedding dress and very cool Sophia Webster shoes. A nice contemporary twist against the classic elegance of the wedding day.
Ardington House grounds enabled Ellen to walk across to the intimate outdoor ceremony area. Being surrounded by a river that runs through the gardens gives an extra feeling of privacy. Sarah Style flowers' looked amazing, weaving a tapestry of wild yet romantic flower arrangements across the wedding arbour.
Music played a big part throughout the day, with their friend singing before and during the wedding ceremony. Ellen and Jeremey both play brass instruments, so it was fitting that they had a 12-piece band play absolute tunes through the night. Nothing, like live music to finish off the day on a high. Ellen even joined in for a song or two.
These two and their family and friends are the kindest souls. It made for such a beautiful energy on the day. Thank you for your kind words below and for making me feel so welcome. Hopefully, the photography captures some of this beautiful energy.
Kind Words
“Alex is everything you could want from a photographer. He put us completely at ease and was incredibly sensitive throughout our wedding day. He noticed and captured the most moving details and emotional moments throughout, truly telling the story of the day. We couldn’t be happier with the photos we received and wouldn’t hesitate for a moment in recommending him. He’s a good laugh, too! Thank you, Alex, for our beautiful wedding photography that we will treasure forever!”
